Shopfront Improvement Scheme

Grants of up to £2,000 are available for shop front and accessibility improvements. A minimum of £20,000 will be distributed to town centre businesses in Rayleigh, Rochford and Hockley in 2025. This scheme is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Before You Start

Rayleigh and Rochford town centres are Conservation Areas, which means that your improvements may require planning permission. Additionally, if your business is based in a listed building, you may need listed building consent. For further advice, please contact the Planning Department on 01702 318191 or email using this form.

You can apply for a grant in advance of submitting a planning application. However, any necessary planning consent for the works must be confirmed before a grant is awarded and works begin.  A grant will not be paid if permissions required are not in place.

Applications open on Friday 28th March 2025 until Monday 12th May 2025 at 5pm

Please note that we expect this grant scheme to be oversubscribed and cannot guarantee that all applications will be successful.
